CHILLI CHICKEN RECIPE- Step by Step

Chilli Chicken

Quick and easy chilli chicken recipe

Ingredients:

  1. Chicken ,boneless pieces – 250 gms
  2. Ginger,finely chopped- 1 tsp
  3. Garlic,finely chopped- 2 tsp
  4. Spring onion, whites – 1 tbsp
  5. Onion,diced – 1/2 cup
  6. Green chilli ,chopped – 1 or 2( according to taste)
  7. Dried red chili flakes – 1/8 tsp
  8. Kashmiri chili powder – 1/2 tsp
  9. Capsicum,cubed – 1/2 cup
  10. Soya sauce – 1 and 1/2 tsp
  11. Tomato sauce – 1 tbsp
  12. Vinegar – 1/8 tsp
  13. Water – as required
  14. Sugar- 1/4 tsp
  15. Cornflour – 1 tsp
  16. Spring onion,greens- 1 tbsp
  17. Salt- to taste
  18. Oil -as required

For Marination:

  1. Cornflour – 1 tbsp
  2. Ginger garlic paste – 1/2 tsp
  3. Soya sauce- 1 tsp
  4. Vinegar – 1/2 tsp
  5. Black pepper powder- 1/2 tsp
  6. Salt – to taste

Instructions:

  • In a bowl,combine together all the ingredients listed under 'for marination'.Rub this onto to the chicken pieces and keep aside for about 15 to 20 minutes.Deep fry the chicken pieces until golden brown and tender.Drain and keep aside.( You can also bake the chicken pieces as i did.For baking preheat oven to 180 deg C,place the chicken pieces onto a greased baking tray without overlapping and bake for about 15 to 18 minutes turning once in between.)
  • Heat oil in a pan.Add ginger and garlic,saute for few seconds.Next add the spring onion and green chilli.Saute for few seconds.
  • Add onion and cook for few minutes or until slightly soft.Next add the dried chili flakes and mix well.
  • Now add kashmiri chili powder and  capsicum .Saute for 1 or 2 minutes.
  • In a bowl combine together soya sauce,tomato sauce and vinegar.
  • Add this sauce mixture and sugar to the pan and mix well .
  • Next add the cooked chicken pieces ,and salt to taste.Mix well until the sauce coats the chicken pieces.
  • Mix cornflour with 1/4 cup water and add to the chicken.Mix well and cook until the sauce coats the chicken pieces.Garnish with spring onion greens and serve with fried rice or noodles.
